“I’m not techy… can I still be a content creator?”

After working with dozens of clients, let me tell you: every single one of them has said some version of this:
“I’m just not good with technology.”
“What if I press the wrong thing?”
“I’m scared I’ll mess it all up.”
I get it… but also?
You don’t have to be “techy” to be a content creator.
No one is born knowing how to film a Reel, light a shot, or write captions that resonate. The people you look up to? They just kept going.
They pressed buttons.
They made mistakes.
They posted something cringy (we all do). And they learned by doing.
The best way to stop feeling unqualified is to just start using the platform.
If you want to create content on Instagram? Use Instagram like a user. Scroll. Save. Press every button except “Post.” See what everything does. It’s literally built to be used by regular humans, not tech experts.
The Only Gear You Actually Need to Start
You don’t need a studio. Or a ring light with 83 brightness settings. Or a $1,000 camera.
If you have a phone and some decent lighting? You’re good.
But if you want to make life a little easier (and save yourself some angles that make you question your own existence), here are two beginner-friendly Amazon tools I recommend all the time:
Content Is Your Art and YOU Are The Artist
If you’ve ever thought, “Who am I to do this?”
Let me remind you: this is your art. Your form of expression. There’s no “right” way to do it.
People are going to have opinions. That’s fine. That’s human.
But as long as you're creating content that feels true to you, that’s all that matters.
You don’t need to go viral.
You don’t need to have a niche locked in.
You just need to start.
So can you be a content creator if you’re “not techy”? Absolutely.
And once you get your hands on a tripod and a decent light? You’ll be surprised how quickly it starts to feel easy.
You’ve got something to say.
You’ve got value to share.
Now let’s show up.
